Automatic fallback to Boost on velqa.dev — stop getting blocked when your subscription runs out
Automatic fallback to Boost is a toggle that lets your spend spill over to your prepaid Boost balance when your subscription (Base) limits are exhausted, instead of being blocked. It is off by default and is enabled in Billing.
What it does
Your subscription (Base) enforces ceilings: a monthly token budget, prompt allowances per 5-hour window and per week, and per-model rate limits (see Rate limits). Once those limits are reached, your requests are normally blocked until the next period.
With fallback enabled, spend falls back to your prepaid Boost balance instead of being refused: you keep working without interruption.
When spend spills over
- As long as your Base limits are not reached, everything goes through your subscription — the Boost balance is untouched.
- As soon as a Base limit is exhausted, following requests are charged to your Boost balance.
- You need a sufficient Boost balance to take over: if your Boost is at zero, enabling fallback unblocks nothing until you top up.
Enable fallback
In the dashboard, open Billing and turn on Automatic fallback to Boost. The possible states:
- Active: Base limits can fall back to your Boost balance.
- Active, but top-up needed: the toggle is on but your Boost balance must be topped up to take over.
- Inactive: Base limits stay blocking.
